Davao (December 2015)

Since the time I get to talked to Gerald from Instagram, my curiosity about Davao grew bigger.
So when an airline announced their seat sale, I immediately booked my flight to Davao so I got it in the most affordable price. ;)

I was booked for Davao for 4 days.  I arrived on Dec 4th and went straight to Lanang where a Big Red Brick house is waiting for me, wait, did I mention BIG Red Brick House?

It was offered to me by my friend Er - and this impressive Brick House is already available thru Air bnb.

The house is really huge for me, good thing I get to finally convinced ER to join me in exploring the beauty of Davao.

The house has 3 bedrooms, 3 CR/2 bathrooms, 1 spacious Kitchen, 1 living room which is really perfect for you and the whole gang!

Besides, it's very accessible to everything - malls, church, downtown, my favorite place - Bankerohan. Everything is just a jeepney away.

Gerald had prior commitments so he couldn't meet me until my 3rd day but he's very generous to be keeping in touch with me and making sure that I could reach safely to all the destinations I asked him about.

I spent my first day looking around downtown, I went to Bankerohan where I found affordable fruits, such as Pomelo, Durian, mangosteen. I think it's Davao's version of Divisoria.

I had my breakfast in one of their carinderia- Puto maya and Tsokolate de batirol.

Then I asked around on how to get to Eden Nature Park.

I had Lunch before I bravely tried their facilities.

I took a van and a motorbike to get to Eden.

Then I tried their SkyBike and

Zipline! Woooh!!!

I went back to Bankerohan where I bought Pomelo and Durian then went straight to Abreeza Mall.

I had my Dinner at Azon's Boneless Lechon.

They offer Lechon Ice Cream!!! I thought it will taste weird but for some reasons, I LIKED IT!

The next day, I was  decided that I'm gonna be spending my morning in downtown to visit some churches before I meet ER in the afternoon, but then again, my plan was changed!

I was re-routed to Philippine Eagle Center, it was not very near the city but I'm glad I took the path to get there.  I enjoyed taking pictures of these huge birds.

I walked around the Eagle Center feeling satisfied just by looking at the animals they have.

I even get to see Pag-asa, (but not in the picture,) it just feels good to see him closer, I guess he overheard me asking the caretaker where he is so he flew on the side of his cage where I can see him closer.  Whoaaaah!!! :))) Then he flew back again to some branches covered by trees.

They are the bracelet vendors outside the Eagle center :)

I dropped by Malagos Park for a while, took some photos and then went back to proper where I had my lunch before I went back to the red brick house.  Just in time before ER arrives.

That afternoon we packed our stuff and head to G Mall where the terminal to Mati is, we had the last trip so we arrived really late, good thing they still accommodate us despite the unusual time of our arrival.

This is where surfers and guests hang out

We bought something to eat along the way, so we had something to eat in our humble abode, then the surfers called us to see the moon rise, after that we decided to sleep so we can wake up really early for the sunrise.

The sunrise didn't fail us!

crepuscular rays

It was one of the best I've seen, and what makes it special is that, since Davao Oriental is located in the eastern most part of the Philippines we get to witness the sunrise before anybody else does.

Amazeballs!!!! <3

Early Morning Skim Boarding

We find a place to eat, and settled for instant noodles and coffee, then we let ourselves be toasted under the sun.

Sure it was really hot, but for some reasons, I enjoyed it's warmth, maybe because I know I won't be going to the beach anytime soon.

We walked to the other end of the beach,

took pictures,

a lot of pictures

We had lunch by the beach,

Probably one of the awesome-st feeling I could get. The sun is scorching hot but who cares? I love the sound of the waves plus the soft breeze of the wind, yes! I'm at the beach. :) Do I still need to remind myself about it? :))
I think ER enjoys the same thing. Thank God for awesome people you get to travel with!!! ^_^

After our very appetizing lunch, we launch ourselves again in the big rolling waves of Dahican Beach.

The whole place is picturesque that you wouldn't mind risking your phone near the water.

Paradise? YES!

My: "I don't care I'm at the beach!" pose lol

We left Mati around 3pm and arrived back in the city around 7 or 8pm.
We met Gerald and we had dinner at Lyndon's World's Worst Ribs & Awful Chicken.

It's the worst! and you'll be craving for it all your life!!!  I badly miss it now  ㅠㅠ

We went back to the Red Brick House and we called it a day.

The next day, we were up early since we are heading to Samal Island. But before that, we roam around the City first then we met Gerald  and went straight to Sasa Wharf.

We took a ferry which is about 10 to 15 minutes away from the City.

Guess Who's Happy to be in Samal Island? :p

We hired a motorcycle (Habal-Habal) And yes, 1 habal-habal for four of us *driver included.

Gerald suggested to chill at Canibad Island.

It was a bit far from the port but the travel was all worth it!!!

We stayed there for a bit before we head to Hagimit Falls,

a very refreshing cool water from the falls awaken our tired body from the long trip.

Next thing we know, we were back in the city.

Having our last dinner in Yellow Fin Restaurant

before we said goodbye to Gerald and wash up and head to the airport.

This will not be the last.. Davao.
