Siem Reap, Cambodia (October 2016)

I decided to go to Cambodia to visit a friend and spend my birthday exploring Angkor Wat.
This is my Birthday Escapade story coming from Bangkok, Thailand.
So last October 2nd, I packed my bag and went straight to Eastern Terminal in Ekkamai.

I bought a one way ticket to Poipet.

The fare was 196 baht and took about 5 hours to get to the border.  When I arrived at the border, I get off the white van and lined at the immigration to have my passport stamp. They have given me 20 days of stay in Cambodia.

After that, I took a 'Free Shuttle' to the terminal of bus going to Siem Reap. Here, I get to meet a Japanese guy, Kengo, who is also going to Siem Reap. It took another 3 hours to get to the town proper.  Good thing Kengo was there, we just talked about Pokemon Go, Japanese Actors and a whole lot of animes the whole time. So the 3 hours trip was not so dragging.

And of course what else can I do, but EAT! It was a long day of land travel, sure it was tiring.
My first dinner in Cambodia is in Little Casa Blanca Cafe & Bar.

Their food is a MUST try!

And since their food is mouthwatering, I tried other food listed on their Menu in some other days I was still in Siem Reap

On my first day in Siem Reap,

I just walk/bike around, eat, take photos and eat again.

Fried Rice- 1.50 USD

Ate Wena and Francis showed me around and at night we went clubbing in Pub Street.

My first sunset in Cambodia.

Then the next day,

I started exploring Angkor Wat and other temples. Me and Kengo agreed to go on a trip together, we hired Mork as our tuktuk driver.

So our first stop-- Sunrise in Angkor Wat. Well, we were not alone in waiting for that remarkable sunrise.

But still, I managed to get some good shots.

And that's Kengo smiling as we get a good spot (less people) to take this shot.

The details will just leave you in awe!

I am so amazed how beautifully it was constructed.

This is one of my favorite shot, I really waited for them to pass by so I can take legit shot of the Monks inside a temple.

At lunch time, Mork brought us to this restaurant where we can take a nap and just relax on a hammock!

Kengo became my (un)official Photographer.

After the tour, we went back to the city proper.
Washed up and decided to have dinner,
At night, they surprised me as I welcome my birthday in Scotch Mist!

Super Thank You for the Surprise!

I was covered in powder as I welcome my xx birthday! :p lol

You better check this place when you are in Siem Reap,
One of the good places to chill, play billiards, drink and just enjoy the night.

We continued our tour the next day, exploring more temples, and a waterfalls.
We did a short trek to Kbal Spean while it was raining! What an adventure!

Good Thing my mom made me a bag cover! My things are safe and protected from rain.

My Birthday shot in Banteay Srei.

What luck do I have to get a chance to see and take a photo of this elephant. :)

This is one of my favorite temple - Bayon.

I hope when I go back to visit Angkor Wat again, I have a better camera that can give justice to it's beauty. For now, I hope you'll still  enjoy my photos and for those asking Mork's details, please see the photos below.

Enjoy Siem Reap!!!

My Birthday escapade in 2016 was not the usual beachcapade that I used to do, nevertheless, this trip was definitely worth it!
Special Thanks to Ate Wena and Francis for accommodating me. <3
